Borgarfjörður eystri is a remote fjord and a small fishing village located in East Iceland, known for its stunning natural beauty, colorful rhyolite mountains, and rich folklore. It is particularly famous for being one of the most accessible places in Iceland to observe puffins, especially at Hafnarhólmi. The area also holds cultural significance as the birthplace of painter Jóhannes Kjarval and is associated with Icelandic elf legends, with Álfaborg (Elf Rock) believed to be home to the queen of the elves.
