Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson is an Icelandic politician who served as the Prime Minister of Iceland from 2013 to 2016. He was also the chairman of the Progressive Party from 2009 to 2016. He resigned as Prime Minister in 2016 following revelations from the Panama Papers regarding his and his wife's offshore holdings, which led to significant public protests. In 2017, he founded the Centre Party, which he currently leads, and continues to serve as a Member of Parliament for the Northeast Constituency.
