Ríkisstjórnin, meaning "the government" in Icelandic, refers to the executive branch of Iceland, which holds executive power and is responsible for governing the country. It operates within a parliamentary representative democratic republic, where the Prime Minister serves as the head of government and exercises executive authority alongside the cabinet. The current government, as of December 2024, is a three-party coalition led by Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir of the Social Democratic Alliance.
