Hafnarfjall

Staður

Hafnarfjall is an 844-meter-high mountain in West Iceland, located near Borgarnes. It is an ancient, eroded central volcano, approximately four million years old, primarily composed of basalt. The mountain is a popular outdoor recreation area, known for its hiking trails and scenic views of the surrounding inlet and Borgarnes. Due to its exposed location, the area around Hafnarfjall is frequently subject to strong winds, which can impact road conditions on nearby Highway 1.
