Fjarðarheiði

Staður

Fjarðarheiði is a mountain pass in the Eastern Region of Iceland, situated at an elevation of 623 meters (2,043 feet) above sea level. It is a significant part of Route 93, connecting the town of Egilsstaðir with the port town of Seyðisfjörður. The pass is known for its challenging driving conditions, especially during winter, due to frequent snow and ice, often leading to closures. There are plans for a tunnel, Fjarðarheiðargöng, to bypass the pass and improve connectivity, particularly for the car ferry that docks in Seyðisfjörður.
