Djúpivogur

Staður

Djúpivogur is a small, picturesque fishing village located on the eastern coast of Iceland, nestled in Berufjörður. It is known for its commitment to the "Cittaslow" movement, promoting a slower, more mindful way of life, and is the only Icelandic town to be part of this international network. The village has a rich history as a trading post dating back to the 16th century and is home to Langabúð, one of Iceland's oldest commercial buildings. Djúpivogur is also recognized for its art, including the "Eggin í Gleðivík" (The Eggs of Merry Bay) sculpture, which features 34 large granite eggs representing local bird species.
