Kýpur is the Icelandic name for Cyprus, an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is recognized as a country in Europe and geographically part of West Asia. Iceland and Cyprus maintain diplomatic relations, with Iceland having an embassy in Nicosia and Cyprus having an ambassador to Iceland. The two island nations share historically excellent relations and cooperate on various issues, including within the framework of the European Economic Area.
