Norðurþing is a municipality located in northern Iceland, established in 2006 through the merger of four smaller municipalities: Húsavík, Öxarfjörður, Raufarhöfn, and Kelduneshreppur. It is a significant administrative and cultural center in the Northeastern Region of Iceland, with its largest town, Húsavík, known as the whale watching capital of Europe. The municipality is responsible for various local services, including schools, youth activities, and infrastructure, and is recognized for its natural attractions like Dettifoss waterfall and the Arctic Henge in Raufarhöfn.
