Hólmavík

Staður

Hólmavík is a village located in the Westfjords region of Iceland, specifically by Steingrímsfjörður, and is the largest settlement in the Strandir area. It is known for its strong connection to Icelandic folklore, particularly its history of witchcraft and witch hunts, and is home to the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft. A film crew of approximately 60 people is currently working in Hólmavík for a month to film a movie titled "Hólmavík," which is based on the historical fact that it was once legal to kill people from the Basque Country in the Westfjords.
