Staður

Reykjanesskagi, also known as the Reykjanes Peninsula, is a significant geological feature in southwest Iceland, extending southwest from the capital Reykjavík. It is a highly active volcanic and geothermal area, representing the subaerial continuation of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates diverge. The peninsula is characterized by vast lava fields, numerous hot springs, and active volcanic systems, and has experienced frequent eruptions since 2021 after nearly 800 years of inactivity. It is home to the Keflavík International Airport and popular attractions like the Blue Lagoon.
