Veðurstofan, also known as the Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO), is Iceland's national weather service and a government agency under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. It plays a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting weather, as well as issuing warnings for natural hazards such as volcanic ash, extreme weather, and flooding. The IMO also conducts research in meteorology, hydrology, glaciology, climatology, seismology, and volcanology, contributing to public safety and the efficient use of natural resources in Iceland.
