Álftanes is a town and low-lying peninsula in Iceland's Capital Region, known for being the location of Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland. Formerly a municipality, Álftanes merged with the neighboring municipality of Garðabær in January 2013. The town is also home to the Ungmennafélag Álftaness multi-sport club, which includes a men's basketball team that competes in the Bónus deild karla (Icelandic Basketball Premier League).
